Work, Work, Work, And Shipping Troubles
The past few days have been nothing but work, with trying to work through a boat load of on-page optimization for a new site the company I work for full time is launching shortly, and trying to prepare for moving this weekend. Even with the crazy schedule this week, UPS decided that I should waste a few hours trying to get a new guitar amplifier delivered. Here’s how it happened:
- I won the auction for a Peavey Classic 30 amplifier on eBay a couple of weeks ago.
- After several delays, the seller finally shipped it off.
- When I went to track the package, it looked like the seller had combined two of my shipping addresses (the house we’re moving out of, and my parents’ house) into an address that doesn’t exist.
- I called UPS yesterday, and asked them to hold it at their sort facility in New Port Richey. They told me that a delivery attempt must be made, but I could pick it up at 7:30 PM, after the driver returned.
- I packed Sarah and Alex up, and made the full hour drive (due to traffic) up to the facility.
- When I got there, I waited 45 minutes for them to tell me that they had corrected the address and put it on a truck to Orlando, where it would be rerouted to the correct address for delivery tomorrow (today).
- Drive 45 minutes back home, sans amplifier.
Needless to say, I was less than pleased. Even funnier, I went to track the shipping progress of Sarah’s Mother’s Day and birthday gift earlier in the way. This one was coming via 2-Day FedEx. I pulled up the tracking number, and this is what it showed:

So, it was within 10 miles of me, a day early, but they wouldn’t let me pick it up! This didn’t really bother me too much, I just thought it was funny. I’m going to watch future FedEx shipments to see if they usually get things here early. It’d be pretty interesting if they use the same timeframe for everything, with the exception of actual delivery.
