A Long, Busy, and Amazing Week
The past week or so has been pretty insane. Not only did we move into our new place, we also had Mother’s Day *and* Sarah’s 23rd birthday, which was today. I’ll try to go through day by day, to keep you guys updated on where I’ve been lately.
Last Saturday (actually, two Saturdays ago!) we hired a moving company for our little move from Trinity, which is just north of Tampa, to Oldsmar, which is west of Tampa. They showed up at 8 AM, put everything in the truck (slowly, as usual, when you are paying by the hour), and moved everything into the new place. We had a bunch of things that weren’t going to the new place, since it’s smaller, so my dad also met us at the old house with a truck. We loaded him up with the random stuff, and he ventured around dropping stuff off.
When everything was moved in, it looked like a war zone in the new house. We don’t have a garage anymore, and it’s amazing how much stuff builds up when you can put things in the garage. Out of sight, out of mine, I suppose. On Saturday night, Sarah and I had planned to dig through the piles, so we dropped Alex off at my parents’, and went back to the new house to get to work. We ended up just hanging out on the couch, after such an exhausting day. On Sunday, Sarah’s mom showed up, and tore through the piles pretty quickly, saving us from weeks of random messiness. I guess that’s what happens when you move constantly (she’s newly retired from the Air Force)!
Alex seemed to have a good time at Nana and Grampa’s house, where she spent a ton of time while we were getting the house in shape. It was nice to finish, and be able to get her back!
On Friday night, I gave Sarah her birthday present, and took her to the Tim McGraw concert at the Ford Amphitheater in Tampa. Jason Aldean opened for him, and was absolutely amazing. So much so that I went out and bought his CD (yes, an actual, physical CD!). Tim McGraw, on the other hand, was pretty disappointing. His performance seemed seriously contrived and diva-ish, and the songs he played off of his upcoming album were extremely formulated. It was a decent show, but the superstar we went to see wasn’t who we expected.
I don’t have any pictures from Mother’s Day (I’ll have to grab my dad’s camera to steal his), but it was a great day. We had a little cookout at my parents’, and Sarah’s parents came. I think it was the first time both sets of parents have hung out, and it really was nice. Alex swam for five hours without a nap, and ended up passing out on a raft I was holding onto in the pool.
Tonight, I made a miniature surprise party for Sarah at our house. It was just my parents, Sarah’s mom (her dad is away on business), and the three of us, but we had pizza and cake, and hung around for a bit. Afterwards, Sarah and I went to see a movie, while my parents watched Alex. It is *so* great having them a couple of miles away. It’s a nice change from our old place up in Trinity.
Thanks for reading this mini-novel! My next post will hopefully be pictures from Mother’s Day!

Sounds to me like you have a happy stable life.
I enjoyed reading about your family.
